Waste Strategy

The main purpose of a Municipal Waste Strategy is to set out the framework within which local authorities or regions can manage their municipal waste. No two strategies will be the same, but all will need to demonstrate how the responsible body can meet their objectives and targets in their National Waste Strategy and Waste Management Plan.

We include in our international assessments:

Ø       Partnerships working between authorities and the private sector to fund and develop the required infrastructure for economic and sustainable solutions.

Ø       Waste reduction as a major priority if waste growth is to be reduced or stopped altogether.

Ø       Recycling, including composting as required, achieving targets and ensuring integrated approaches by waste collection and waste disposal authorities.

Ø       Recovery of energy from waste as incorporated in the strategy, including incineration with energy recovery, CHP (Combined Heat and Power) or other advanced conversion technology such as anaerobic digestion, gasification and advanced biomass systems.

Ø       Site identification for development of the required infrastructure, addressing planning, health, environmental and amenity considerations.

Ø       Landfill capacity, controls, restoration and aftercare.

Ø       Transportation and logistics options and impact assessing the benefits of alternative measures and their proximity.

The multidisciplinary team approach enables specialist skills covering:

        Technical knowledge and proficiency

Awareness in a global context of environmental agency and other national legislative and regulative procedures

        Problem solving

        Cost Awareness

        Efficient Resources Allocation
