TITLE: GENERAL ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS REQUISITES - GEARS

DURATION: ONE DAY

GEARS is a course designed as a scene setter for all management and senior staff employees who, in undertaking their normal functions, may precipitate or prevent pollution of the environment.

A course with no prerequisites, in order to bring to the attention of all staff an in depth awareness of how to protect the environment, within the daily operations of an industrial or commercial business.

Course Description:

On completion of GEARS, management and staff will be able to identify and associate themselves with the possible hazards surrounding their own working environment. Delegates will have a basic understanding of spill management and environmental management systems, which would enable them to identify appropriate personnel for selection to attend higher levels of instruction in pollution control.

TITLE: FIRST RESPONDERS AT OPERATIONAL LEVEL - FROLS

DURATION: TWO DAYS

FROLS is a course designed for individuals, at the operations level, who would respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances as part of the initial response at the spill site.

A course ideally suited for those personnel who, in their daily operational functions, would be at or near a potential source of contamination. Should the substances that they work with be deemed a pollutant, if released, the main objective for these personnel will be to protect people, property and the environment from the effects of a release.

Course Description:

On completion of FROLS, First Responders will have been trained to respond in a defensive fashion to control, contain and confine the release. They will be able to contain the release from a safe distance, keep it from spreading and prevent exposure to others. Delegates will be able to objectively demonstrate competency in the areas covered by the course content.

TITLE: EMERGENCY SPILL CONTROL AND CONTINGENCY PLANNING - ESCAPE

DURATION: FIVE DAYS

ESCAPE is a course specifically designed for senior management who, as part of their decision making functions, will be required to take responsibility to produce or oversee the production of contingency plans or prevent pollution of the environment.

The recommended pre-qualifications for this course include: good communication skills; reasonable level of education; previous supervisory safety and man management skills.

Course Description:

This course is to facilitate the necessity for senior managers to understand how to go about contingency planning. It is NOT possible, due to time constraints, to write their actual plans, but does allow for a systematic follow up, via consultancy, for the actual contingency planning requirements to be installed at the delegate’s type of business.
