Macao, China
Water, Energy and Sustainable
Development – “Thinking Green, Going Clean and Living Cool”
Martin Parr to speak on Waste to Energy
MPCEE applauds and fully supports the Macao Special Administrative
Region of the People’s Republic of China’s initiative to take a proactive lead in promoting
environmental protection and also in its drive to position Macao as a gateway
for clean technology transfer. Environmental issues are urgent. Action is
needed now. The government of Macao is doing its bit in the global drive for
sustainable development by proactively hosting a forum to promote “Thinking
Green, Going Clean and Living Cool” and facilitate international cooperation.
2008 MIECF will be held from 23 to
25, April 2008, in the Cotai Stripä Convention and Exhibition Centre at The Venetian® Macao
Macao is an ideal venue, due to its geographical location,
its destination of choice for Asian travellers and its connection with the
Pan-Pearl River Delta Region. It has historically always been the gateway to
mainland China and South East Asia.
This
conference event, supplemented by an accompanying exhibition, will play host to
a multitude of government leaders, entrepreneurs, environmentalists, climatologists,
scientists, researchers, experts, financial institutions, investors and
representatives of non-government organisations, to actively participate in the
collective effort to promote environmental protection and sustainable
development; not just in China but globally. The three-day event will gather
leaders of the Pan-Pearl River Delta Provinces and Regions of China, official
guests and delegates from countries across the Asia-Pacific region.
The 2008
MIECF aims to support sustainable economic and social development in the region
and in China through promotion of green enterprises and to establish Macao as a
bridge connecting the Chinese mainland and other countries, for technology
exchange and international co-operation in environmental protection. Critical
issues on the agenda will be Energy, Water, Clean Production &
Industrial processes and Agriculture & Forestry.
The various strands of the forum, to be run concurrently, with
presentations and discussion, are:
•
Energy Saving & Emission Reduction
•
Efficient
Use and Treatment of Water Resources
•
Clean
Manufacturing
•
Intelligent/Eco
Cities
•
Sustainable
Transport
Sectors to
be covered include alternative energy, air quality management, water supply and
waste water, climate change, energy efficient vehicles, fuel cells, green
building products, energy efficiency, pollution prevention, waste management
and recycling, sustainable construction and urban environmental management.
The exhibition will showcase the latest advances in environmental
technology, state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies and will provide the
opportunity for partnerships between providers and end-users. With rapid social and economic
development, the Pan-Pearl River Delta regions and Asia Pacific regions in
general have a high demand for environmental technologies. Governments and
enterprises in the regions will be aiming to exchange ideas and forge
co-operation with their counterparts all over the world.
